Jan Harmsgat Country House - Swellendam

Jan Harmsgat Country House isin a historic 17th-century farmhouse surrounded by the Langeberg Mountains and the Breede River. It is decorated throughout with classical Victorian furnishings and features a restaurant, bar and outdoor swimming pool.

All elegantly presented accommodation includes heating, air conditioning and a luxurious private bathroom, some with freestanding bathtub. Each room or suite has its own distinctive style and history.

The country, fine dining restaurant makes use of its location amongst sloping vineyards and orchards producing a range of fruits and nuts. Fresh homemade cuisine is served throughout the day and can be combined with a local wine from the cellar.

The Robertson Wine Region begins within 20 km from the guest house. Both Bonnievale and Swellendam are a 20-minute drive away.

Superior Suite 7. Adjacent to the main building, these elegant Superior Suites are have their own private entrance and plush furnishings. The en-suite bathrooms are fitted with an opulent bath, oversized shower, toilet and bidet and under floor heating. The rooms offer either mountain or garden views, and are within 70 metres of the tranquil, salt-water pool. ;
Executive Suite 5. Offering an open-plan bathroom with a shower, the Executive Suites are spacious and feature a seating area. One suite is housed in the original wine cellar building and has a private staircase leading to the entrance. The two other suites are in a separate building with private entrances. ;
Classic Quarter Suite 1. These spacious double rooms are located in a Cape Dutch-style building with thatch roof. Guests have access to 2 communal lounges to relax in and there is a private courtyard, conveniently situated next to the salt-water pool. All rooms have complimentary mini-bars, tea-and-coffee making facilities, flat screen TVs with selected satellite channels, and underfloor heating. They each have a bathroom, some of which are open-plan, and include a bath andor a shower. Rooms are either equipped with a ceiling fan or air-conditioning, and some rooms can have either a King-size bed or twin beds. Please indicate your preference at the time of booking. ;
